Kat’s story just won an Honorable Mention in Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers!

“Brompton’s mixture is a combination of potable morphine, cocaine, whiskey, and honey, a palliative cocktail invented at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London in the late 1920s.  It was administered, in my experience, in paper Dixie cups, lined four in a row in a mini fridge with a lock.”
