Something for the weekend #8

Broken dials and windows with roll-door

What makes a good story? Great writing, intriguing characters, screaming tension, conflict? All of these things. But where to start?

This photograph is split almost in two. On one side we see broken windows and a pile of discarded dials of some kind. Interesting. Juxtapose that with a very new looking roller door, presumably locked and protecting – what?

Take something broken or neglected and put it in a scene with something precious. Or change one or both somethings for someones. Start writing.

  1. Good prompt idea. In fact, I think all good writing fits this formula. There has to be something broken in any good story. Perfection doesn’t make for good reads!
